Don't you wish you could just stop the clock sometimes? I remember a story in the scriptures when the Most High held the sun in the sky so our forefathers could finish fighting....yea, I pray for that all the time. It seems there's always so much to do and so little time.
If you're anything like me, not getting to every item on you list can be quite frustrating. Feeling inadequate when you can't fit everything and everyone into a 24 hour day can be the spark for plenty anxiety and nuff depression. I know most people think being a stay at home mom is easy breezy...but it aint. I can definitely testify that I work much longer hours staying home than I ever did leaving home. The labor is more intensive and unpredictable as well. But it's beyond rewarding. However, seeing my sons smile and laugh with glee while painting, coloring or playing in the yard doesn't take away from the self-imposed stress I endure when I have to spread the laundry over the whole week, or I cant fit in a single recipe post on Tasty Tuesday.  But that's the thing, we don't HAVE to be stressed. We are not required to be anxious to get things done....we're actually commanded NOT to be. :/...

So why do we put ourselves through such headache by submitting to this world's view of what our lives should be? How do we break free of the time warp that we're in and get to really fulfilling our Given time here? I can't say what will work for everyone but I'll tell you what seems to be working for me...

So I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to pie crust. Not a snob-snob but like a "geez it's not that hard to make from scratch, what is this 'store bought' crap" snob.... so maybe that is a snob snob but so what. When you see how quick and easy this recipe is, I hope you'll understand. But hey, if you enjoy the taste of cardboard coupled with beautiful and delicious pie...by all means, do ya thing. :) However, if a light, crisp, buttery crust that can be easily prepped, stored and even frozen appeals to you, here it is ;)

The Feast of Dedication has begun and I hope we're ALL eatin good and well!
Everyone who knows me knows I'm a sweet potato enthusiast. Like stalker status! So when I spotted $2 bundles of sweet potatoes at a cute little roadside
veggie stand on a recent family trip, I got more than a couple.

Browsing around for adult dessert ideas I found this one (http://www.closetcooking.com/search?q=sweet+potato+pecan) on www.ClosetCooking.com. It's simple and quick to make and (though I dont 'highly' reccomend it) you can use a store bought crust ;). I subbed the maple syrup for simple syrup and the bourbon for brandy. It's still extra delicious :)

A blessed and beautiful Holy Day week is my prayer for ya'll.
Shalom Israel!

Good morning lovelies ;) Here's a delicious spin on oatmeal even the oatmeal haters will love. I know because neither me nor my husband is a fan of cooked oatmeal but we both love this bake. You can add any mix-ins you like. Today I added raw pumpkin seeds and diced apples. Let me know what you try and how it comes out. :) Keep reading for the recipe!

Greeting fam! I'm sure most of you have heard of the 'spicy lemonade' Beyoncé drank back in the day to lose weight for some movie role. Well, it turns out that lemonade is a great cure-all for just about any toxin related issues we may have. I'm currently having an unusually long breakout in my fo-head area and IT MUST GO! Here's me making a cup of Spicy Lemonade. It's reputed to clean the blood and clear mucous, as well as regulate circulation and respiration. BTW, it tastes pretty good too! I found the recipe in Sister Angela Freeman's book "God's Gift" which is an awesome resource for any 'Good Black Woman loving a Strong Black Man'. Be well family! MHNCBU all!

Shalom beautiful family. I don't know if it's chilly yet where you're at but the cool weather has arrived here in New Orleans. Now, for us southern belles, "the cool" means there's a breeze outside and the temps are in the 60's. We have to wear long sleeves which is not our 'thing' down here at all but we deal. "The HULK" is a whole nother story though...expect plenty of posts once the Hulk arrives because I will be INSIDE, wrapped in 2-3 blankets, sweaters, AND socks. Needless to say, me and winter don't get along too well. :)
Anywho, I'm not posting today to bash the winter, I know it's necessary like every other season. (Being that fall is just starting we have a split second to go still before it gets ridiculous.) Winter comes with many benefits, one of them being, the Detox. That's the name I've given those 'bugs' that are rampant in our homes around this time of year. After Spring, summer, and fall are so full of decadence. Cakes, pies, frozen sweets, drinking, parties, and feasts! Then when winter comes and our bodies slow down, we pay for it. So, when I feel the temps begin to dip, I start to prepare my family for the months ahead.

YAY!!! We've made it through summer break! Today is the first day of school for many of our little ones. Although we're homeschooling at my house, a healthy breakfast is still the first order of business to start our mornings. I put together a really quick and healthy frittata this morning that I'll share with ya'll. For about 3 minutes of prep and 15-18 minutes of cook time you'll have an 'omelette style' crowd pleaser.

Well hello there monday....we meet again!
Good morning beautiful people! Coming through with a quick Monday Motivation for ya'll! Today's lesson is PRIDE! Not the arrogant, puffed up pride, but pride in whatever it is you do! I know it's hard to be proud of your work on a Monday, after what I hope wasa great weekend. However, you just never know who's watching. It makes a major statement to the RIGHT people when we are seen enjoying and being diligent in our work. Always remember, we choose our jobs, they don't choose us...so whatever it is, count it a JOY, give thanks that it's YOURS to do and do it like its YOURS to do! Make your name and your work shine. Be a blessing this lovely monday mornin!
Peace

Soooo, If you're following @NspiyahdWorks on the book of faces you already know we're JUICING this week! But of course, the babies are not so we're keeping them on an ital diet. Many times it's difficult to get the kiddies to eat their veggies but there is hope. I already shared the tip about hiding juicer pulp/grated veggies in the flatbread dough but here's another one for the 'all american' eater types. Yucca FRIES! Yea you read that right. It's a big brown root you can find in the produce section of just about any grocery. Peel the skin cut into fries and pan fry in olive oil. Sprinkle with a lil sea salt or seasoning of your choice and they'll never know ;)

Releasing from our lives those people who are parasitic in nature provides the
space for those people who are here to assist in the manifestation of our
dreams. However, when that parasitic individual  excuses him/herself, cutting
that cord can sometimes be difficult. When cutting the emotional and energetic
cord is difficult an important reminder to self is "I am deserving of love and
happiness" this affirms to the universe that we are ready to embrace all of the
beauty and love that this life has to offer.
