I hope ya'll knew I wasn't gonna leave yall hangin on #TastyTuesday ! lol
We tried this recipe earlier in the week and it definitely tastes authentic! This is one of my mom's favorite dishes from the Chinese restaurant so I had to find out how to make it at home. It's quick and easy, the meat needs to marinate for only about 30 minutes. You can substitute the meat for a lighter fare like chicken or even vegetarian options like tofu for a very versatile and delicious dinner that can be made from scratch right quick.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 lb beef steak, tofu or meat of choice, sliced stir fry style
1 medium onion, sliced into thin strips
1 green bell pepper, cut into 1 1/2 inch squares
4-5 garlic cloves, minced
1 inch piece of ginger minced
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
white pepper to taste (black works too), I used about 2 1/2 tsp
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 Tbsp cornstarch
3 Tbsp oil

Directions:
In a large skillet or wok heat oil over medium high heat until smoking lightly. Brown steak in oil for about 3-5 minutes, until browned on all sides. Remove from skillet and set aside. Place garlic, ginger and half of sliced onions in the skillet and sauté until slightly translucent. Add meat back to skillet. Mix soy sauce and cornstarch in a small cup until well blended. Pour into skillet.  Add green pepper, remaining onions and powdered seasonings. Add approximately 2 cups of water. Cover partially and let cook until sauce has thickened and meat and vegetables are tender to your liking. Pair with steaming hot rice, fried rice or egg rolls. Enjoy!
