Greetings beautiful sisters! My prayers are with you all! Given my current state and the reactions surrounding certain decisions, it seems fitting that the first "official" post address the topic ofFEAR ...yes loves, that ugly feeling that spreads over our hearts like a cancer when faced with the unknown or things we percieve as dangerous. CHILDBIRTH is not dangerous!! Our bodies have been specifically designed to bring new lives into this world. Now granted, there are risks associated with birth just as there are risks associated with anything else in life. Yet, if we do even a litlle research into natural birth vs. medically assisted birth, the more dangerous option of the two becomes obvious. Infant and maternal mortality rates are elevated in hospital births, along with infection rates. I know, I know...its the PAIN that scares most of us spitless. We have been inundated with images of screaming women giving birth...not only in caves, huts, and one room shacks but in hospitals as well. "Who would want to go through that?" Especially with the medications and technologies we now have to NUMB the pain. Well, for one, MOST of us would give a serious side eye to any woman doping up her newborn child...or herself while the child is living inside her. That's essentially what happens when we medicate during pregnancy and birth. A 'legal' prescription doesnt make it less of a drug or less potent. Now I am not downplaying the pain by FAR. This is not my first time at the rodeo. My first child was born at 29 weeks, induced, and after THREE doses of epidural we BOTH had to be sedated after the birth. So I speak from pure experience. I shook uncontrollably throughout the birth as if I was seizing (bad drug reaction) and after watching my tiny 3 lb. 2 oz baby boy shake the same way for days...let's just say, it wont happen again.
Ladies, we've been 'cursed' with the pain of childbirth (thanks a bunch Eve)... Upon further research and understanding of scripture, we've also been promised that if we keep the Law of the Most High, we will be spared in childbirth..1 Timothy 2:15. (hmmm...they always forget to mention that part. :] ) Our Father always gives us an out. He's covered the land in herbs, roots, and flowers to help us in our journey. He's given us His word and promises for continual comfort. We have the tools of prayer and meditation to adequately manage the hormonal fluctuations, mental stresses and PAIN that accompany us on this journey. We have come to trust in the convenience of technologiical advances, believing that doctors, nurses....hell even the hospital receptionist, is more capable of bringing our children into this world than we are, with the power of the One who creates and sustains us all. We have been commanded to 'be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might', with the understanding that He will not lay more on us than we can bear. Resting comfortably on the promise that He will not leave us or forsake us and He is constantly perfecting all things concerning us.
....Proverbs 3:5-6 says it all "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Remember sisters 2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us a spirit of fear; but of POWER, and of LOVE , and of a SOUND MIND.
